Layered Detectors

I finally fabricated a semi-large scaled layered detector. We spread optical grease between the films - you can see on the boundary between the first acrylic disc on the left and the film that some of the grease leaked out and ruined the reflectiveness.

It was a little difficult to mount to a PMT - going from a square to a circle and teflon tape doesn't stick well.  I ended up just using a bunch of teflon tape and then just fastening it.

The final assembly (the Hammer of Thor) looks pretty good, and didn't have any light leaks.  However the performance wasn't too good, though it seems due more to the film than anything else.

This will be repeated with different films (any maybe a wavelength shifted PVT block) in order to validate my simulations, and then we are off to the races!
