Counting Candies

The Geissinger reunion always has a counting game. Candies are put in a jar, and people are invited to guess how many pieces of candy are in the jar, with the closest person getting the jar. I was curious if the results would follow counting statistics.

The results do not fit counting statistics, which at first was quite surprising. Once thinking about it, however, I realized that people where probably influenced by the guesses above them. As the chart shows, there is definitely a trend in the guesses, people voted according to the what others had above them. Perhaps for the Urffer reunion we should do the same thing, but have people put their votes in a ballot box.
