Installation of Geant4

The System76 can run Geant4!  The time it takes to complete a run is a big factor, but I think that I got the installation correct.  It was easy actually, I followed the directions.  It is nice that they finally got a debian package up, but I think eventually I will have to install from source.  Hopefully I can try to install Geant4 on BigBlue tomorrow.  Next up, can I use Eclipse as an IDE?

I lied.  It turns out to be a little more difficult.  Once you installed the package you need to do setup work - hopefully setting up the environment variables will help.

Some helpful things to note:
  • The package installs Geant4 in /usr/share/geant4
  • Use the setup script vs g4make?
In any case, BOOM, it ran!
